Leadership For The People
Shakeel Ali is a 40-year Daly City resident and is the city’s first council candidate raised in Midway Village.
Ali is a father, and three of his children attended and graduated from Daly City public schools. Ali is a veteran teacher, teaching special education and humanities courses for 30 years at local schools. His passion, integrity, and patience has earned the respect and trust of parents, students, and the Daly City community.

While teaching, Ali had a vision for a higher quality education for students, and he ran for the Jefferson Elementary School District (JESD) Governing Board. He is the current President of the JESD Governing Board and has served as a Board Trustee for nearly a decade. During this time, Ali co-authored Measure I, a $67.5 million bond measure that provided deeply needed funds to repair and update schools in the district. He also campaigned for Measure U to support construction projects and provide funding for affordable housing for teachers and staff, and he’s actively working on integrating Ethnic Studies in the school curriculum. Ali will bring the same level of successful collaboration and visionary decision-making on the city council.
We live in a time of gentrification, Covid-19, and Black Lives Matter, and Daly City needs a visionary leader with the experience to make change happen through community engagement. As a council member, Ali believes Daly City residents have the solutions to our biggest problems, and he wants to lead authentically and collaboratively with the community to improve government transparency, create a stronger social safety net, and revitalize our city with just community development. Vote Shakeel Ali for Daly City Council on November 3, 2020!
